DOCUMENT IMAGING TECHNICIAN III

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs complex (journey-level) electronic document imaging or micrographics work. Work involves operating, adjusting, and maintaining digital imaging equipment and software, scanners, and micrographics processing and duplicating equipment; and storing electronic information, microfilm, or microfiche.  May train others.  Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Operates, adjusts, and maintains digital imaging equipment, scanners, and micrographics equipment; and ensures quality control.

Consults with customers regarding special requirements.

Reviews work for accuracy and conformance with instructions and established practices.

Reviews quality of electronic documents in imaging system.

Maintains daily production schedule and prepares production reports.

Maintains and/or repairs digital imaging equipment, scanners, and micrographics equipment.

Maintains inventory control records and orders parts and supplies.

Documents, indexes, and stores micrographics and electronic image files.

Scans documents for conversion to electronic imaging.

Verifies job billing and submits payment.

May prepare documents for digital imaging, scanning, or micrographic processing, and operate a microfilm camera and scanner for the purpose of recording, storing, and converting documents.

May train others.

Performs related work as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience and Education

Experience in operating digital imaging equipment and software, scanners, or micrographics equipment.  Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.  Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of digital imaging equipment, scanners, or micrographics equipment.

Ability to work with film processing and testing chemicals, to compile and interpret production reports, to communicate effectively, and to train others.
