PHOTOGRAPHER I

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs complex (journey-level) photographic work. Work involves photographing various subjects. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Performs photographic work, including digital and film.

Photographs objects, materials, and human subjects.

Processes, prints, and reproduces photographs, including enlarging photographs.

Designs and arranges settings for photographs.

Maintains photographic equipment, records, and archives.

Orders photographic supplies and equipment.

May operate video equipment.

May provide digital imagery services.

Performs related work as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience and Education

Experience as a still and motion picture or television camera specialist. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of instrumentation; of still and video photographic techniques; of computer editing, transmission, and storage of images; of photographic operations; of production methods and procedures; of supply procedures; of the use, care, and arrangement of equipment; of lighting as it relates to photography; and of maintenance procedures for cameras.

Ability to communicate effectively.
