PHOTOGRAPHER II

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs advanced (senior-level) photographic work. Work involves planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating photographic activities. May supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Oversees the performance of photographic work, including digital and film.

Designs and arranges settings for photographs.

Evaluates and selects photographs for publication and distribution.

Develops, implements, and ensures economy of operation and provides suggestions to improve work methods and procedures.

Analyzes reports pertaining to photographic production, operations, equipment, and supplies.

Operates video equipment.

Provides digital imagery services.

May supervise the work of others.

Performs related work as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience and Education

Experience as a still and motion picture or television camera specialist. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of instrumentation; of still and video photographic techniques; of computer editing, transmission, and storage of images; of photographic operations; of production methods and procedures; of supply procedures; of the use, care, and arrangement of equipment; of lighting as it relates to photography; and of maintenance procedures for cameras.

Ability to execute and direct photographic operations, to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others.
