REGISTERED THERAPIST IV

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs advanced (senior-level) habilitation or therapeutic rehabilitation work. Work involves coordinating therapeutic rehabilitation activities for clients within a program area and developing protocols for an assigned program in habilitation or rehabilitation therapy services. May assign and/or supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

Coordinates therapeutic rehabilitation activities, analyzes client needs, and implements programs to address client needs.

Develops treatment protocols for specialty areas.

Reviews and analyzes progress reports.

Evaluates and delivers therapeutic treatment for clients.

Instructs therapeutic staff in conducting habilitation or rehabilitation activities.

Plans and participates in quality assurance activities.

Assists in planning, developing, and administering schedules of activity.

Assists in planning and developing in-service training programs.

May monitor quality assurance activities.

May coordinate volunteer activities affiliated with the rehabilitation therapy program.

May prepare and submit data for budgets.

May assign and/or supervise the work of others.

Performs related work as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Experience and Education

Experience in therapeutic rehabilitation work. Graduation from an accredited college or university program with major coursework in one of the recognized therapeutic rehabilitation activities is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of therapy principles and techniques, and of psychology.

Skill in the use of rehabilitation and orthopedic equipment, materials, and tools; in the repair of rehabilitation therapy equipment; and in the operation of computers and applicable computer software.

Ability to administer therapy programs, to develop and conduct assessments, to coordinate program activities, to communicate effectively, and to assign and/or supervise the work of others.

Registration, Certification, or Licensure

Must be a licensed therapist in one of the therapy specialties.
