EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II
Performs advanced (senior-level) mechanical and electronic repair and troubleshooting work. Work involves coordinating the maintenance, installation, and modification of various types of machines, and providing consultative and technical services. May train, coordinate, and lead the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Verifies and conducts inspections, tests, and reviews of equipment and instruments for quality control and preventive maintenance programs.
Investigates complaints, documents findings, and conducts quality assurance reviews.
Performs proper inventory control of parts and tools.
Orders parts, materials, and equipment.
Maintains documentation on work performed on equipment.
Installs, tests, and determines operating parameters for laboratory equipment.
Installs engineering modifications, changes, and updates to equipment.
Prepares, submits, and maintains records of work orders and parts issued.
Assists in developing policies and procedures for quality control and preventative maintenance programs.
Assists in planning and scheduling work assignments.
May train, coordinate, and lead the work of others.
Performs related work as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Experience and Education
Experience servicing and repairing various types of machines and equipment. Graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with major coursework in electronic technology or a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of safety procedures and potential hazards, of servicing procedures and repair techniques, and of various types of equipment and their related applications.
Skill in the use of tools and in the assembly, operation, and repair of various machines and systems.
Ability to understand and follow instructions of a technical nature; to analyze equipment and resolve problems; to communicate effectively; and to train, coordinate, and lead the work of others.
Registration, Certification, or Licensure
May require a valid driver's license.
